Code can be indented, non-indented and numbered to make it easier to view the code and identify certain problem areas. There are also many plug-ins which can further extend the abilities of this widely used text editor. There is a tabbed interface which is why some people use Notepad++ as a Notepad replacement. The languages supported include C, C++, CSS, C# Java, HTML, Python, Ruby, PHP, Lisp, and Javascript which all have syntax highlighting which helps to show when a command has been typed incorrectly. Notepad++ is a WYSIWYG text editor which can be used simply as a Notepad replacement app but it is better used as a programming editor to code in one or more languages.
